We are seeking an enthusiastic and effective Head of Science to lead our Science faculty within our vibrant secondary school community. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced curriculum leader—or a talented Science teacher ready for progression—to shape the vision and impact of Science across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will lead a committed team of teachers and technicians, supported by an experienced second in department, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning, strong student progress, and a curriculum that inspires curiosity, confidence, and scientific literacy.

Contract: Full time, Permanent
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Salary: Main to Upper Pay Scale (Surrey) : £38,627 - £52,490 + TLR £12,512

Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure excellent standards of teaching & learning across the department
- Take responsibility for the strategic overview of the department, including self evaluation and the improvement plan for the department
- Monitor student progress and implement strategic intervention for the department
- Develop the curriculum, schemes of work and assessment across all key stages
Requirements include:
- Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
- Ability to evidence effective continuous professional development
- Ability to evidence effective communication with a wide audience / range of stakeholders
